Averseng MichelMichel AVERSENG began studying art in Toulouse, south of France, where he also was born. Then, he was admitted at the « Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts » in Paris, where he studied sculpture in the course of Marcel GIMOND.A prize from the Renault Cars Company Foundation was the starting point of many travels: firstly in Italy, and then through the Far-East. Living in Japan for two years thanks to a scholarship of the Japanese government, he visited Korea, Thailand, Burma and Cambodia of which the art of statuary fascinated him. After two others years spent in Australia, he was back in France to settle definitively but still travelled from time to time. On the fringe of his sculpting work, he taught drawing and sculpture at the Art School of Chaville, near Paris, for almost fifteen years. His work has been rewarded by several prestigious prizes from the Institute of France â?? the French Academy of Fine Arts (prizes : Claude Raphaël Leygue, Hector Lefuel, Eugène Piot), the Taylor Foundation (prizes Taylor, Charles Malfray) and also the Honor Medal of the Society of French Artists. Currently, Michel AVERSENG is presiding the sculpture side of the « Salon » -Société des Artistes Français -and is also a member of the board of the ADAGP, which is the French collective administration organization for the rights of authors in the visual arts. Both galleries «Galerie Bruno Martin CAILLE» (191, faubourg Saint Honoré - Paris 8ème) and «Galerie Malaquais» (19, quai Malaquais â?? Paris 6ème) are presenting some of his sculptures.
